Domaine Alexandre Bonnet

Domaine Alexandre Bonnet is a sustainably minded Grower Champagne house found in its southern-most village of C么te des Bar, Les Riceys. Home to the steepest slopes in Champagne, the vines sit on Kimmeridgian limestone soil, imparting a unique and renowned flavour reminiscent of Burgundy.

As Champagne鈥檚 largest grower house, Domaine Alexandre Bonnet controls every part of their production, ensuring quality and sustainability at every stage. Surrounded by woodland, the vineyards foster a rich biodiversity. Wild orchards flower in the spring, attracting blue tits and black-capped warblers, who rest in the newly planted trees in the middle of the vineyards before they continue their journeys. For the bees, melliferous fallows are there for the feasting. Their committed approach to biodiversity was recognised by UNESCO in 2022, when the first biodiversity trail in Champagne was inaugurated in Les Riceys.

Organic practices have been in place throughout the vineyards for over 12 years, and the domaine became Haute Valeur Environmental (HVE) certified in 2015. Herbicides and insecticides are no longer used, and horses now鈥痳oam鈥痑mong the vines to support sustainable soil management. The domaine have reintroduced old varieties including Buret, Blanc Vrai, Petit Meslier and Arbane.

Pinot Noir reigns supreme at the domaine, covering 80% of the vineyard area. Used in six different wines, including the Ros茅-des-Riceys: a unique and complex still ros茅 with a Burgundian edge.
